Peers used the G7 statement to push the Government on Ukraine, Sudan, the Middle East and defence, with the sharpest disagreement over how much more Britain should do on military spending, sanctions and Europe. Ministers said UK support for Ukraine would continue, backed a two-state solution and closer co-operation with the EU, and said the delayed UK-EU summit should happen soon, but several questions — including what “long-range capabilities” means for Ukraine and how far the G7 can still shape events — were left open.

MPs said Sudan’s conflict is driving mass killings, displacement, famine and attacks on religious communities, and urged stronger UK action on a ceasefire, aid access, arms flows, sanctions and accountability; the Government pointed to £146 million in humanitarian support, UN diplomacy and sanctions on 24 people and bodies linked to the war.
