Ministers welcomed the fragile US-Iran framework and said Britain was preparing with allies, including France, to help secure unrestricted shipping and clear mines, while peers pressed for details on deployment, Gulf security, humanitarian supplies and unresolved threats from Iran’s nuclear programme and regional proxies.

MPs said Sudan’s conflict is driving mass killings, displacement, famine and attacks on religious communities, and urged stronger UK action on a ceasefire, aid access, arms flows, sanctions and accountability; the Government pointed to £146 million in humanitarian support, UN diplomacy and sanctions on 24 people and bodies linked to the war.

Peers pressed the Government to do more than offer sympathy after the 8 June quake, asking whether Britain should send medical teams, ship support and disaster experts to help the Philippines, where thousands have been displaced and hospitals have been damaged. Ministers said the UK was ready to provide humanitarian help if asked, would keep the situation under review, and would continue backing the Bangsamoro peace process and wider development work in the country.
