Government pressed on youth unemployment, graduate jobs and apprenticeships
Ministers said overall employment remains high but accepted that too many young people are still out of work or education, pointing to £2.5 billion for a youth guarantee and a £3,000 hiring incentive for 18 to 24-year-olds. Opposition MPs highlighted falling graduate recruitment and rising youth unemployment in their areas, while Labour also faced questions over graduate unemployment and whether the student loan system is fair to everyone who went to university.
