Dartmoor grazing rules put conservation aims at odds with farmers and pony protection
Peers challenged Natural England’s handling of new farm payment agreements that could reduce livestock grazing on Dartmoor, warning of effects on commoners’ rights, rural livelihoods and Dartmoor ponies; the Government denied any planned pony cull and said the Rural Payments Agency is working on a way for common graziers to access support schemes.
