Ministers pressed over foreign interference in UK elections and party systems
Peers questioned whether current safeguards are enough after reports of foreign influence targeting the 2026 Scottish election, alleged Russian-linked activity and a cyber-attack on the Liberal Democrats; the Government said it was using the Defending Democracy Taskforce, sanctions and security support, with a fuller response to election-law concerns due soon.
