Andrew George pressed ministers to back a fair settlement allowing the Parthenon sculptures to be shown together in Athens, while Ian Murray said the sculptures are legally held by the British Museum trustees and any agreement with Greece is for them to make, with the Government promising not to block a deal.

MPs urged the Government to act on committee proposals and consider joining the EU’s successor to Creative Europe, while ministers said they were working with the EU, had introduced digital ATA carnets from 1 June, and would respond after negotiations linked to the 22 July UK-EU summit.
