Climate change agreements expanded to more energy-intensive industries
MPs քննարկed regulations adding mechanical plastic recycling, spirits packaging and automotive battery-cell manufacturing to the climate change agreements scheme, which gives energy-intensive businesses support in return for improving efficiency. Conservatives did not oppose the changes, but questioned why they will not take effect until January 2027 and why only three of seven applicants were accepted, while Labour and the Liberal Democrats pressed for broader action to cut industrial energy costs and speed the shift to cleaner energy.
