Lords debated whether sharp increases in anxiety, depression, ADHD and autism diagnoses reflect real unmet need or over-medicalising distress, with pressure on ministers over waiting lists, school support, welfare links and support for severe illness. The Government said an independent Fonagy review will inform its forthcoming mental health strategy, alongside plans for 8,500 more staff, school and college support teams and community mental health centres.
