Child Contact Arrangements
MPs argued that family courts too often give too much weight to claims of “parental alienation” and too little to allegations of domestic abuse and children’s own wishes. Ministers said the government does not recognise parental alienation syndrome, but is already changing family justice rules to put children’s voices first, limit offenders’ use of parental responsibility in serious abuse cases, and tighten standards for experts in court.
